MODERN JAZZ
Varying rhythms and styles for fun musical interpretation.
Jazz is a fun style which develops physical strength and flexibility. At JLD we offer the chance for students to learn the IDTA modern jazz syllabus.
BALLET
IBallet has a technique which is the foundation for all dance styles, making it a very important class to take. It develops strength, flexibility, balance, discipline, fluidity and grace. At JLD we offer students the chance to take the IDTA examinations in ballet.
TAP
Tap is rhythm and rhythm is tap. It is a very fun, energetic style of dance, which literally makes music with your feet. Using the taps on the shoes as a type of percussion. At JLD we offer the students the chance to take the IDTA tap examinations.
STREETDANCE/COMMERCIAL
Streetdance originates from groups of people dancing against eachother. It has lots of different stylkes within it such as, popping and locking and hip hop. It is a very fun and current style of dance.
Commerical dance refers to dance you see in concerts, on TV and in music videos. Again it is made up of different styles which include jazz and hip hop. This is also a very fun style of dance and usually very popular with teenagers.
MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical theatre combines, song, acting and dance. Its what you see in all musicals. At JLD we learn musical theatre style routines to work on expression in dance. It is a great style to learn as it builds confidence within performance and improves acting skills.
LYRICAL/CONTEMPORARY
Lyrical embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, and modern. It often tells a story as does contemporary dance. Contemporary can often be a slightly stronger form of lyrical. Less fluid but with the same ideas behind it. Telling a story with a mixture of the three genres. Sometimes hip hop can be mixed into these styles to give a different feel.
The main aim of Jordyn Louise Dance is for students to have fun whilst learning to dance with good technique. Our staff have experience in the professional industry which brings a higher level of understanding to what is needed to help students reach their goals, whether you dance as a hobby or with the the hopes of pursuing dance as a career.
